Opened on Saturday March 20th 1954
we are mindfull of all those who in past had the vision and the commitment to provide us with the building we have today

The Opening Order Of Service 20th March 1954

 

The history leading up to this event shows how determined the folk were to provide us with a church.

 
1909 The original site on the corner of Plumstead Rd and Barrack Rd was purchased. Camp Meetings were held and a small hut erected for Worship
1910 The temporary Church was opened
1942 Church was destroyed by enemy action
1944 Heartsease Lane site purchased
1946 Wooden Huts erected on the new site were opened
1949 A Nissen Hut, called the "Francis Hall" was opened
1953 The stonelaying ceremony for the new Church
1954 Completion and Dedication of the Church we have today
