Traidcraft

Traidcraft is a fairtrade company with headquarters in Gateshead.

It aims to ensure that producers in Third World countries get a fair return for their produce and offers a wide range of fairly traded foods and crafts from around the world.

Although Traidcraft supplies a wide range of goods that can be bought from their catalogue or online, such as Traidcraft wine, house and home, Fairtrade fashion and accessories, Fairtrade t-shirts and Fairtrade stationery, Heartsease Lane Methodist Church can only stock a limited amount of what is available, such as:

Fairtrade chocolate and snacks

Our snack range includes cookies, sweets and a selection of cereal bars and healthy fruit snacks for those preferring a more healthy option. For those who like to indulge, we offer a range of fine chocolate and confectionery, including many exotic flavourings for the more adventurous.

Fairtrade drinks

Choose from a selection of coffees, teas, hot chocolate and fruit juices. We offer a choice of organic, ground and speciality hot beverages, as well as everyday items.
Fairtrade food
Our food range includes cooking essentials, such as rice, pasta, olive oil and sugars as well as dried foods, nuts and spreads. We also offer complete foods, such as fair trade cakes, and an assortment of healthy breakfast cereals.

Once a month after the 10.30am Service there is an opportunity to stock up on Traidcraft products.

Message of Thanks from the Traidcraft Team

The Traidcraft team of Glenis, Trixie and Barbara would like to thank all of you who support our stall each month.  The purpose of fair trade is of course to ensure that the people producing the goods receive a fair price instead of much of it going to ‘middle men’.
Fair trade offers poor people fair wages and fair treatment enabling them to escape poverty.  Traidcraft’s charity ‘Traidcraft Exchange’ doesn’t provide short term aid but sustainable investment in training, campaigning and business development work –giving poor producers the dignity of using their skills to work their way out of poverty.
Traidcraft are always trying to think of new ways of helping those living in absolute poverty and have come up with a new long term solution to launch in India.  Although almost one third of the world’s poorest people, 450 million, live in India, there is a rapidly growing middle class there.  The potential for fair trade is therefore enormous and so bringing the fair trade market to the public’s attention in India could make a real difference.
The impact of the current economic climate is making it very difficult for Traidcraft Exchange to continue supporting its traders and to start new projects.
Although the purpose of our Traidcraft stall is not to make a profit we do accumulate funds over time and this has enabled our church to donate £300 recently to Traidcraft Exchange.
So thank you once again for buying fair trade products.  As well as the foodstuffs that we have available each month we have catalogues showing other items such as clothes and gifts which we are always happy to order for you.
